Metabolomics Society

The Metabolomics Society is an independent, non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors composed of dedicated members of the metabolomics community but ultimately responsive to its members. The Metabolomics Society's vision is to become the premier organization devoted to the development of metabolism-based research. Constituted in 2004, the Metabolomics Society now has more than 1,000 members in more than 40 countries.

Our Mission

  1. To promote the growth and development of the field of metabolomics internationally.
  2. To provide the opportunity for collaboration and association among workers in metabolomics and related sciences and foster connections between academia, government and industry.
  3. To provide opportunities for presentation of research achievements and the creation of workshops.
  4. To promote the publication of meritorious research in the field.

The Metabolomics Society, Inc. is not affiliated, associated, endorsed by, or in any way officially or unofficially connected with OMIC Group International (Nevada, USA) or any of that company's affiliates or subsidiaries.

Conference Policies

The following policies will be in place for meetings by the Metabolomics Society to ensure the comfort and privacy of all conference participants and to encourage scientific discussions and presentation of novel data.

  • No photography, videotaping or recording is allowed in oral sessions or in the Poster-Exhibit Hall except by the official Society photographer or Society-approved audio-visual vendor. This includes cameras, cell phones and all other devices.
  • All conference attendees acknowledge and consent that pictures will be taken by the official Society Photographer and may be used for Society purposes such as marketing.
  • Name badges are required for all conference sessions, including the exhibit hall.
  • No smoking is permitted in the conference venue.
  • Cell phones must be turned off in oral sessions.
  • Material presented or displayed at the conference (orals, posters, workshops, exhibit booths, hospitality suites) is the intellectual property of the presenter and may not be recorded, photographed, quoted, disseminated or transmitted in any form without the express approval of the author. Materials must contain appropriate credits for all content used.
  • The placement of exhibitor advertising in the meeting area is strictly limited to the booths and tables of corporate members in the Exhibit Hall.
  • No organized activities, including off-site and/or sponsored events, are permitted during times that conflict with the posted agenda.
  • Children are not permitted in the meeting space during set-up or during conference events, including the Conference Dinner.

Presentation Policies

  • Each attendee may submit only one abstract for either poster or oral presentation as the presenting author.
  • Presenters giving talks must have a full-access registration (not Exhibit Hall Only/Booth Staff).
  • Poster presenters must be present at their posters for their dedicated session.
  • All presentations, including posters, slides, and talks, should be in English.
  • The conference is not equipped to support virtual participation, including virtual presenters. All presentations must be made in person.
  • Commercial logos on posters should not be larger than 20 cm x 20 cm, or 20% of the poster.
  • Poster presenters are welcome to provide handouts such as preprints, extended abstracts or copies of poster panels. No hardware, computers, books, accessories, or saleable items may be displayed.

Posters and oral presentations should:

  • Acknowledge all authors and affiliations.
  • Describe original research and include appropriate structural elements such as summary, introduction, methods, results and conclusions.
  • Acknowledge funding mechanisms and declare any conflict of interest.
  • Affirm that research with human subject samples received appropriate Institutional Review Board approval or exemption.
  • Refrain from using photographs or schematics of animal models unless absolutely necessary for describing the study.


Code of Conduct

The Metabolomics Society is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants. All participants are expected to abide by the Metabolomics Society Meetings Code of Conduct at either in-person or online events.

Expected behavior

  • All participants, attendees, and vendors are treated with respect and consideration, valuing a diversity of views and opinions.
  • Communicate openly with respect for others, critiquing ideas rather than individuals.
  • Avoid personal attacks directed toward other attendees, participants, and suppliers/vendors.
  • Respect the rules and policies of the meeting venue.

Inappropriate behavior

  • Verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations; or threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, service provider, or other meeting guest.

Inappropriate behavior not tolerated at Metabolomics Society conference events, including online events

  • Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
  • Physical or verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, service provider, or other meeting guest.
  • Disruption of talks at oral sessions, poster sessions, or workshops either in-person or online.

Reporting inappropriate behavior

  • If you experience any inappropriate behavior please contact either the online moderator, conference staff (at the registration desk), or a Metabolomics Society Officer/Board member as appropriate.
  • Please contact security if you experience or observe any serious threats to public safety.

Consequences of inappropriate behavior

  • Security may take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund.
  • The Metabolomics Society reserves the right to take any appropriate action, including prohibiting attendance at any future meeting.
