Buenos Aires, the vibrant capital of Argentina, is known for its broad avenues, lively neighborhoods, and extensive public transportation network. Below you'll find essential transportation information to help you navigate the city during your visit.

Ezeiza International Airport (EZE)

Buenos Aires is served by Ezeiza International Airport (EZE), also known as Ministro Pistarini International Airport, located approximately 32 km (20 miles) from the city center. Most international travelers will arrive here.

Traveling from Ezeiza International Airport to the Centro de Convenciones Buenos Aires (CEC)

  • Ride-Sharing Services: Ride-sharing apps such as Uber and Cabify are commonly used in Buenos Aires. Travel time to the venue is usually 40 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • Private Transfers: Pre-booked private transfers and remis services are available for travelers who prefer a direct ride to the venue or their hotel.
  • Public Bus Lines: Public buses connect the airport with the city, but they are less convenient with luggage. A SUBE card is required, and routes should be checked in advance using BA Cómo Llego.

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP)

Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP), also known as Aeroparque Internacional Jorge Newbery, is located within the city of Buenos Aires. Many domestic and regional flights arrive here, and it is generally more convenient for reaching the venue than Ezeiza. 

Traveling from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery to the Centro de Convenciones Buenos Aires (CEC)

  • Ride-Sharing Services: Ride-sharing apps such as Uber and Cabify are also commonly used. Travel time to the venue is usually 15 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic. 
  • Private Transfers: Pre-booked private transfers and remis services are available for travelers who prefer a direct ride to the venue or their hotel.
  • Public Bus Lines: Public buses connect Aeroparque with different parts of the city. A SUBE card is required, and routes should be checked in advance using BA Cómo Llego.

By Train and Long-Distance Coach

Retiro is Buenos Aires' main railway hub, and the city's main long-distance coach terminal is located nearby. From Retiro, Uber, Cabify, or a pre-booked car is a straightforward way to reach the venue.

If you prefer public transportation within the city, the CEC can be accessed from the Facultad de Derecho station on Line H (north terminal station) and is also served by several bus lines.

By Car

The CEC (Centro de Convenciones Buenos Aires) venue is accessible via major avenues including Av. del Libertador, Av. Figueroa Alcorta, and Av. Sarmiento. The CEC has visitor parking available in the venue area. Driving in Buenos Aires can be busy during peak hours, so allow extra time when arriving by car or private driver.

Getting Around Buenos Aires

  • SUBE card: The SUBE card is the rechargeable transit card used to pay for buses and the subte in Buenos Aires. Cards can be purchased and loaded at subte stations, Tourist Assistance Centers, and many kiosks.
  • Subte: Highly Convenient! The subte is Buenos Aires' underground metro system. It has six lines, and Facultad de Derecho on Line H is the station closest to the CEC venue.
  • Buses: Several bus lines stop near the venue, including 17, 33, 67, 93, 102, 124, and 130.
  • Ride-Share Apps: Suggested car travel is through ride share apps such as Uber or Cabify.
  • Walking and cycling: Recoleta is pleasant for walking, and Buenos Aires also has cycle lanes and a public bike-share system.

Transportation Tips

  • Allow extra time when traveling from EZE, especially during peak traffic periods between 7:30 – 10am and 4:30 – 7:30pm.
  • If you plan to use buses or the subte, purchase and load a SUBE card early in your stay. You can also pay with a credit card at the terminal.
